My Mission

I help women simplify by honoring their internal, relational, spiritual, and environmental connections.

Meet Suzanne Searcy Johnson

Hi, I’m Suzanne, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I’ve been “trying” out methods of simplifying my life since the mid-1990s. Back then I was reading book after book on the subject, watching documentaries and television shows, and attempting to apply the principles they promote to my own life over the decades. I have the loveliest organizing bins and fancy label-maker, which certainly make life easier. But nothing changed me internally.

Later, when I was doing some deep soul-searching and challenging my behaviors and life choices, I stumbled upon Charles Wagner’s The Simple Life. Originally published in 1895, his book lent me timeless truths over a hundred years later that I could (finally) apply to my life. The accumulation of all those years of seeking helped me find the key: connecting with my internal purpose, with others in intentional relationships, with my Higher Power in meditation, and with nature.

Several years ago, I lost my sister unexpectedly. In the wake of this loss, I decided to devote my time and energy into writing. My passion is in connecting with other women through my writing by conveying the life principles I have developed over the years.

My Life Right Now

At the moment, I’m taking my next steps toward a simpler, more intentional life.

I recently moved into a tiny home community in Austin, Texas. Paring down my belongings was a freeing process! I’m also traveling and writing as this new season of simplification unfolds. Follow along on social media if you’d like to catch my “Tiny Talk Tuesday” videos and learn more about tiny house living.

Artist’s Statement

I have seen so many women struggle to “be enough.”

It’s exhausting, the things we do to keep the plates spinning. After years of attempting to measure up to some arbitrary ruler, I stopped. I have learned that the less I strive and grasp and hold onto things, the more freedom I receive. My true desire is to create art that helps women recognize that they are exactly who they are meant to be at this very moment.

My Quirks
I have a knack for finding four, five, and even a couple of six-leaf clovers!
My Quirks
Getting through a conversation without throwing in a movie quote is quite a challenge for me. I “work hard at it, but so do washing machines.” (Extra credit if you can name that movie.)

My Grown-Up Gap Year: A Journey Of Simplicity, Intentionality, And Connection

What does it look like when a middle-aged woman takes a gap year? I decided to find out. My youngest just graduated from high school and is heading off to college, so I’m in my “Grown-Up Gap Year”. It’s more about growing than taking a break. I’m pushing my boundaries by moving into a tiny home and traveling. And I’m facing my fears around discomfort and financial insecurity.

Join my adventures exploring this new empty-nest phase. This year is about leaning into simplicity, loving intentionally, and living connected!

Yes! I’d love to speak with your audience about simplicity, purpose, connection, and more. Simply send me a message expressing your interest, and I’ll be in touch shortly.

I love this question. Minimalism isn’t just about having less stuff–it’s about letting go of anything that stands in the way of living the life you want. The key is seeking connection. When you lean into simplicity by removing mental and physical clutter, you will begin to connect internally to your own purpose. Equally important is your connection to others. Love intentionally by staying present and savoring every moment you have with the people you care about. And spending time in nature and seeking spirituality will cultivate peace and clarity. Once your priorities have been realigned and connection is at the top of your list, a more purposeful, generous, joyful, and you guessed it–minimalist–perspective will fall into place.
